Maggie Duffy (BMgmt’21)��takes us through a busy day in her work and social life in Halifax.

8:30 a.m.

The office fills up with conversation before screens. This is our busiest season, with guides, campaigns, and content strategy all colliding, so connecting feels as important as the work itself.

9 a.m.

I reply to messages from trip planners. This morning, folks are asking about coastal hikes, lunch spots on the Eastern Shore, and where to rent mobility equipment.

9:30 a.m.

I meet a team member to review a proof of the . We pore over layout, images, and copy. Reviewing guides feels like a game to me — part quality control, part treasure hunt.

11 a.m.

The content team prepares for an afternoon social media working group, where destination marketing organizations (DMOs) from across Canada share learnings and priorities. As , we’re excited to share our strategy and growth.��

12 p.m.

The noon gun bellows through the city and that’s my cue to break for lunch. I grab empanadas from Verano, a bustling Mexican-Venezuelan restaurant — extra ��á��ٲ�� sauce, please!

1 p.m.

I create a social post inspired by a recent snowstorm in Halifax featuring moody winter shots and a caption that takes me far too long to write. I love connecting to evoke feelings; when someone feels emotionally aligned with Halifax, they develop a sense of belonging, even if they've never been here.

2 p.m.

Our team presents our Reddit learnings and priorities to ’s social media working group. The group from Destination Greater Victoria asks to reconnect to learn more about how we built and grew the channel.

3 p.m.

I review more than 500 photos for an upcoming culinary project I’m leading. After interviewing some of Halifax’s most talented culinary voices, seeing them captured in their element is incredibly rewarding and narrowing it down to 45 images feels nearly impossible.

5 p.m.

I meet a friend for an expedited hike at the High Head Trail, one of my favourites in the Halifax region. The sun is fading, but we put on headlamps for some extra light. I bring my camera along — mostly for memories, but also for future content.

8 p.m.

I meet friends at my favourite North End pub, The Narrows. Croquettes hit the table first, followed by the Dutch Mess: braised haddock, lardons, fried smashed potatoes, and chopped egg in a rich, creamy sauce. It’s the perfect post-hike reward.��

10 p.m.

My eyelids are heavy. It’s been a day where every box is checked: work, movement, connection. I tuck myself into bed, looking forward to doing it again tomorrow.
