Marine and Environmental Law: Retrospect and Prospects

The Marine & Environmental Law Institute (MELAW) and the Marine & Environmental Law Program (MELP) at HÂþ» University are pleased to host a two-day hybrid conference to mark the 20th anniversary of MELAW and the 50th anniversary of MELP.
This event will take place on May 20–21, 2025.
In-person attendance is by invitation only. However, a call for virtual participants will be announced shortly—stay tuned for details.
The conference will bring together scholars, practitioners, and students to reflect on the development and influence of marine and environmental law, and to explore emerging challenges and future directions in the field. It will also provide an opportunity to celebrate the rich legacy of MELP as a teaching specialization and MELAW as a leading research institute at the Schulich School of Law.
