The Marine & Environmental Law Institute (MELAW), located in the vibrant port city of Halifax, is internationally recognized for excellence in marine and environmental law teaching and research.
MELAW is housed in the Schulich School of Law at HÂþ» University and carries out research and consultancy activities. MELAW also directs the Marine & Environmental Law Program (MELP) academic specialization.Ìý
In addition to scholarly research and publication activities, faculty, associates and staff carry out research projects and provide advisory services to agencies of the United NationsÌýand regional organizations as well as assisting government departments and non-governmental organizations in Canada and internationally.
MELAW supports student collaboration in addressing environmental issues through theÌýÌýand theÌý, a non-governmental organization dedicated to environmental law education and advocacy.ÌýMany students are also involved in the activities ofÌý.
