What happens if you miss a payment

  • You will be charged late fees and interest

  • Your account may be restricted if your balance is $100 or more

  • Unpaid balances can affect your registration, transcripts, and graduation

Late registration fee

You are expected to register and pay your fees on or before the specified registration dates.

  • If you register after these dates, you must receive approval from the Registrar.Ìý

  • If you have a balance of $100 or more, a $50 late registration fee will apply.

Late registration fee waiverÌý

You can request a waiver of the late registration fee. Your waiver will not be considered until your account is paid in full, including the late registration and interest.

What happens if your account is overdue (30+ days)

If your account remains unpaid and you have a balance of $100 or more, your account will be placed on hold. This means:

  • Access to certain university services may be removed, including access to transcripts and the ability to register for your next term

  • Your status will be reinstated upon payment of the outstanding fees, arrears, interest, and a $50.00 reinstatement fee.

Once your account is back in good standing, you can request a reinstatement fee waiver using the waiver request form [PDF - 236 KB]

If you’re graduating

If you have an overdue balance, it may affect your ability to graduate on time. To receive your parchment at convocation, your account must be paid by:Ìý

  • April 15 (spring convocation)

  • September 1 (fall convocation)

Accounts that remain unpaid for an extended period may be sent to collections, and you may be responsible for any related costs.Ìý

If your payment is returned

If a cheque is returned by your bank as non-negotiable, a $20 service charge will be added to your account. Your account will be considered unpaid.

Returned tuition paymentsÌý

If the bank returns a cheque that was to cover payment of tuition:

  • Your registration may be cancelled

  • If you are permitted to re-register, a late registration fee may apply.
