Get involved

The Dal community can make a difference by joining a group or society, carpooling with a co-worker, or shopping for your veggies at the campus farmer’s market.

Free Store

As a hub for redistributing free gently used goods such as household items, kitchenware, school supplies, and more, Dal’s Free Store is reducing waste, saving individuals money, and contributing to a circular economy. Since launching in 2024, we’ve mobilized over $75,000 of used goods!

Anyone can donate by dropping items off outside the College of Sustainability in the Mona Campbell Building during weekdays from 7AM-10PM. If you’re interested in volunteering, you can express interest (login required).

Student Internships

Each year, the Office of Sustainability works with students and faculty across campus to use the campus as a living lab and explore sustainability challenges through employment opportunities.

Since 2008, we have hired close to 70 student employees. Students have taken on various roles to help us make progress on a wide range of sustainability plans and initiatives related to our work on:
