The Department of Plant, Food, and Environmental Sciences is pleased to welcome and introduce two new  limited term instructors:

Kai Zuo (Limited Term Instructor in the 4+0 Landscape Architecture program at FAFU)

Kai Zuo is a landscape designer, researcher, and part-time gardener with experience in landscape design, GIS, and environmental research. He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Landscape Architecture (BTLA) and a Master of Science in Agriculture from HÂþ»­ University. His research examines riparian vegetation, river morphology, and Atlantic salmon habitat using GIS and remote sensing. Kai has taught university GIS laboratory sessions, providing hands-on instruction and technical support, and he is completing the teaching certificate program at HÂþ»­ University. He also brings professional experience in residential design, community housing planning, and 3D visualization. Kai enjoys climbing and outdoor in his free time.

Chen Zixiang (Limited Term Instructor for the Bachelor Landscape Architecture program on the AC Campus)

Chen Zixiang is a landscape architect whose work spans professional practice, teaching, and research. He is a full member of the Ontario Association of Landscape Architects and the Canadian Society of Landscape Architects. Prior to joining HÂþ»­ University, he was an Associate at STUDIO tla in Toronto, where he led and contributed to public landscape, mixed-use development, master planning, and urban design projects across a range of scales. He also taught landscape architecture at the University of Guelph. Chen holds a Master of Landscape Architecture from the University of Toronto and was named an Olmsted Scholar by the Landscape Architecture Foundation. His research explores participatory approaches to urban redevelopment, place, belonging, and community engagement. His background in sculpture and Chinese painting continues to inform his interests in landscape representation, materiality, composition, and design narrative.
