When four students taking an Environmental Law class were given their first assignment — to write a paper to submit to an international writing contest — they had no inkling they’d win.

Computer Science student Mariam Ragab and Management / Sustainability student Hayat Showail share a similar commitment to building community and breaking down barriers in the process. Now, they also share one of Canada’s top student honours: a 3M National Student Fellowship, awarded to just 10 undergrads annually.
