Tri Nguyen-Quang, an assistant professor and researcher in Dal AC’s department of engineering, has been working on research that applies to biosystems, agricultural andenvironmental fields. His new biofluids and biosystems modeling lab was Ìırecently officially opened at Dal AC.

“I do a little different type of research. It’s observation of phenomenon, then I collect data and analyze … and predict phenomenon,†said Nguyen-Quang, adding he uses mathematics and physical, mechanical and biological backgrounds to deal with the natural pattern in living organisms.
One of the many projects Nguyen-Quang is studying is the phenomenon of blue-green algae that changes the colour of entire bodies of water.
“The problem exists in Nova Scotia … some are toxic and some are not and some, we don’t know yet,†said Nguyen-Quang, adding the problem is occurring in other places around the world.
